The War HOGG Pistol Administrative Load with Red Dot Sight - Pistol Shooting Drill


In this blog post I talk about how I administratively load my red dot or iron sight pistol. This pistol loading process is one more way to get dry fire training with your pistol, plus you insure that your pistol is loaded via a press check or as I like to call it a War HOGG check. I would recommend you have a system how to load your pistol the same way each and every time.


The War HOGG administrative red dot pistol loading procedure starts with identifying a safe area. Draw your red dot pistol from the holster and presenting the pistol in a safe direction. This gives me a chance to check the red dot brightness and ensure my iron sights are in working order. Yes, I have seen some students missing a front or rear sight. Next is locking the slide to the rear and conducting a speed magazine change, with another pistol presentation. I then conduct a “War HOGG” check (press check), holster my pistol with my thumb on the rear of the pistol to ensure it does not get knocked out of battery. The final step is placing a new magazine into position one of my magazine pouch.
